Colitis signs, symptoms and remedies

Inflammation of the colon is known as colitis. Colitis is a form of ulceration which is very sore and is formed in the lining of the large intestine. The most common form of colitis is ulcerative colitis that occurs in the rectum and lower part of the colon and can affect the entire colon. The condition leads to diarrhea which happens due to the inflammation forcing the colon to empty frequently. The inflammation does the work by killing the cells and ulcers are formed at thee same place which cause bleeding and produce pus. colon problems like this disease start between ages 15 and 30; it can also be seen in people between the ages of 50 and 70. Unfortunately, there has been no discernable test that can confirm the causes of ulcerative colitis. Some of the most common colitis symptoms are rectal bleeding, diarrhea, tiredness, and weight loss.

There are a variety of causes of colitis and colon disease including infections, poor blood supply and autoimmune reactions. The colon is responsible for collecting and storing the waste products of digestion. Basically, it is a long muscular tube that pushes undigested food towards the anus for elimination as a bowel movement. The colon is located in the abdominal activity and is divided into the following parts—the rectum, the ascending colon, the transverse, the descending colon, the sigmoid, the rectum and the anus. The wall of the colon has a layer where the colon inflammation occurs and is responsible for colitis symptoms.
Inflammation of the colon can be caused by a variety of illnesses and infections. Some of the most common causes for this stomach malady is that there are many food-borne illnesses like food poisoning. There are many common bacterial causes including E. Coli and Salmonella. Colitis treatment varies on the intensity of the symptoms to which one is experiencing. Mild symptoms may respond positively to antidiarrheal medicines and changes in your diet. For moderate or severe symptoms of colitis, the condition will usually require corticosteroids to control inflammation.
