Is fasting harmful or helpful to colon health?

By Jarrett Kruse

Fasting is one of the most effective strategies for natural colon health and healing. In fact, the first thing that most animals do when sick or injured is to fast. The reason is simple, it’s because during a fast the body doesn’t need to spend energy on digesting food. It seems that fasting does help cleanse the colon and the results depend on the length and type of your fast. Colon health and fasting is likely to get some results if you are willing to fast for more than seven days on green juices and water followed by a thorough herbal colon cleanse. Preparing for taking control of your health means looking into a good natural body detox program that many believe can restore a rejuvenated sense of health. Most recommend doing this at least two to four times a year.  If you’ve never fasted or cleansed before and want to try it the best thing to do is just ease yourself into it. When you are trying to remove years of accumulated toxins from your system, you can experience strong physical reactions to a colon cleansing products.

After a fasting and cleansing routine, many people are surprised at some of the health benefits they receive. A feeling of vitality and improved clarity of thought is often cited. After a successful use of colon cleansers, people who have suffered from constipation often achieve or restore regularity in their bowel movements. To obtain the most from your fasting and cleansing program, start cutting back or eliminating unhealthful foods from your diet at least three months ahead of time. These harmful foods and beverages are acid forming within the human digestive system. You may have been reading or hearing about the acid connection in our bodies and maintaining good internal chemistry. It seems acid forming foods, foods promoting an acidic environment within our bodies, cause health to breakdown and then we become susceptible to diseases. Another option for gastrointestinal cleanliness is colonic irrigation, hydrotherapy, water therapy or an at home-enema.
